TWO people have been killed near Mudgee in separate car accidents in less than 24 hours as the NSW holiday road toll grew to eight on Thursday morning.

The Ulan Road was closed yesterday morning after a 50-year-old man died in a two-vehicle accident.
Another man was killed hours earlier in a single-vehicle crash on Boxing Day afternoon on Doughertys Junction Road.
The 50-year-old man was standing next to his parked car on the side of Ulan Road about 9.20am yesterday when a Ford station wagon travelling north struck him.
The 50-year-old man suffered extensive injuries as a result of incident and died at the scene.
The female driver of the Ford, aged in her 30s, was taken to hospital for mandatory blood tests.
Officers attached to Mudgee Local Area Command were called about 1.45pm on Boxing Day following reports a car had hit a tree on Doughertys Junction Road, Hargraves.
While the male driver was able to walk to a nearby property to raise the alarm, his male passenger was found deceased inside the vehicle.
The driver was airlifted to hospital for treatment to his injuries and has undergone mandatory blood and urine tests.
The Ulan Road was closed until early yesterday afternoon as officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene of the two-vehicle accident.
Local diversions were in place with motorists urged to avoid the area.
