Family and friends of the nine-year-old boy's mother showed support with more 700 likes and about 50 messages early yesterday afternoon on several posts made after the boy had died.
Community members have also commented on the accident through the Daily Liberal website and Facebook page after hearing of the news.
The mother described the grief at losing her son as a bad dream she wished she could wake up from and highlighted her son's qualities.
"You made me so proud my boy," she posted on Christmas Day.
"You was the best big brother & son anyone could ever ask for. I'll never forget the day (night) that I bought u into this world."
The boy was described as by Facebook friends of his mother as a funny, sweet, beautiful and loved child.
The mother's Facebook friend Terrielee Seaman also wrote, "no mother should feel this pain", "it would feel like hell on earth" and "my prayers and thoughts are with you and also my heart keep it until the day you don't need it anymore".
Billie-Jo Williams shared the status of the boy's mother and posted that her " heart goes out to all treasure your moments with your kids cos never know it may be your LAST".
Parent posted on the Daily Liberal website under the article Christmas tragedy: Child dies in horror motorcycle accident.
"Same day an adult was seen riding down Warne Street with a child on his shoulders (no helmets); not to mention a child who cannot reach footpegs should not be allowed on a bike (forget the stupidity of being carried on shoulders); or wether the bike was registered to be on the road!" they wrote.
"Stories of babies carried under arms; rider no helmet; on main roads. Parents need to be held accountable; make children ride in safe areas; wear helmets and don't dink(sic); if these rules are not followed bye; bye bike and charge those involved."
Melbymoo2 posted a comment under the update on the Daily Liberal page of the accident.
"Y did they not get helmets 4 Xmas as well so sad !!!!!"
A post by Bev raised many questions about the motorcycle crash.
"This is very sad. Motorbikes have safe load limits eg;- 50cc is usually 80kg. How small is small? Small covers 50cc to 250cc? What was the load limit for this bike? Did the bike have a double seat, and passenger foot rests? Did the rider have the experience to carry a passenger? Were the boys wearing boots? Were helmets available for the boys to wear?"
A 12 year-old boy who was riding the motorcycle with the nine year-old when it collided with a wooden fence post in a Wellington paddock survived the accident and was airlifted to Westmead Children's Hospital with serious injuries.
