The Western NSW Regional Action Plan, written for New England North West, Riverina, Far West, Murray and Lower Darling, Orana and the central west, outlines the state government's top priorities for long-term development in communities throughout NSW.
Released by minister for western NSW Kevin Humphries, the action plans reflected feedback from the extensive stakeholder and community consultations held throughout NSW this year.
The top priorities for Dubbo (and western NSW) include providing quality education and training opportunities; fostering economic diversity and creating new employment opportunities; ensuring communities are strong, safe and healthy, with access to quality services; strengthening the region's ability to manage natural resources, including water, to continue to grow its agricultural resources; and working in partnership with local communities to deliver effective and co-ordinated services.
"Earlier this year local communities provided input to the priorities in the regional action plans through face-to-face meetings with cabinet ministers held in Broken Hill, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Bathurst, Tamworth and Griffith, as well as an online regional forum and written submission from local stakeholders," Mr Humphries said.
"The plans reflect priorities identified by the community during this extensive consultation process and outline the key actions the NSW government, in partnership with stakeholders, will deliver over the next two years to improve opportunities and the quality of life for people in NSW."
The plans he said, aligned with NSW 2021, the government's 10-year plan to rebuild the state's economy, return quality services, renovate infrastructure, strengthen the local environment and communities, and restore accountability to government.
He said delivery of the action plans would be driven at a local level through regional leadership groups, which would include senior NSW government representatives, who would support the delivery of the actions outlined in the plans.
"We are committed to keeping communities updated on delivery of the plan's key milestones and will report honestly and accurately each year on the progress we have made through the NSW 2021 reporting framework."
