Wellington resident Larry Blackhall rushed to the aid of the boys after he witnessed them crash the small motorcycle into a wooden fence post on the property he leases behind Elizabeth Street.
Mr Blackhall was first on the scene of the accident that occurred about 3.40pm finding the nine year-old boy dead and the 12 year-old boy with serious facial and head injuries.

1.30pm:
The small motorcycle involved in the Tuesday afternoon crash in Wellington that claimed a young boy’s life was a Christmas present.
A nine-year-old boy was killed when the motorcycle he and a 12-year-old boy were riding crashed into a wooden post in a paddock behind Elizabeth Street.
Emergency services had to cut through the fence of the paddock in order to treat the 12 year-old boy who survived the accident.
CHRISTMAS DAY:
A young boy has died and another has been injured after a motorcycle accident in a paddock at Wellington yesterday.
About 3.40pm, a nine-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were riding a small motorcycle around a paddock at the end of Elizabeth Street, when the bike collided with a wooden post.
The boys, who were not wearing helmets, were thrown from the bike.
The younger boy died at the scene, with the older boy sustaining serious facial and head injuries.
He was airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital.
Police from Orana Local Area Command are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
