Emergency services were called to Benelong Road just before midday yesterday following reports a vehicle had hit a tree.
When they arrived they found a white ute among bits of tree that had snapped off in the impact.
The ute's tray had detached and was lying on the opposite side of the road.
Rural Fire Service personnel helped with traffic control on the road, which was blocked while the debris was cleared.
The driver, a man in his mid-twenties, was helped out of the vehicle and into an ambulance while an umbrella shielded him from the blazing midday sun.
The man was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition with a fractured leg, shoulder injury and cut to his head.
