At 1.30am on Saturday police were called to Apollo Estate following reports a male youth had been stabbed with a weapon believed to have been a screwdriver.

Police arrived at a Lunar Avenue property to find a 17-year-old with a stomach wound.

The 17-year-old had refused to help police with inquiries, Orana Local Area Command (LAC) duty officer Inspector Brad Edwards said.

"We were initially told that a 22-year-old female had stabbed him to the stomach," he said.

The youth had allegedly been stabbed as the result of a domestic incident, according to police.

Paramedics transported the 17-year-old to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition.

A 22-year-old woman is currently under investigation by detectives as the police investigation continues.

Inspector Edwards appealed to members of the Apollo Estate to come forward if they had any information that could help police with their investigation.

Saturday evening saw further action as Dubbo police attended the scene of an accident at a Mumbil property in which a nine-year-old boy became trapped under a box trailer.

It is believed the boy had slipped while watering trees from the box trailer that was carrying a watering system.

While his father drove a utility that towed the box trailer, the nine-year-old boy moved outside of the cage on the box trailer with his watering hose then fell.

The boy was trapped under the box trailer for about two hours, according to police.

He was eventually freed by emergency services personnel.

A helicopter was called to the scene but it was unable to transport the boybecause of technical difficulties.

The nine-year-old was taken by ambulance to Orange Base Hospital.

Dubbo and Wellington police attended the scene with State Emergency Service (SES) personnel and paramedics.
