The land at 1 Bligh Street will be "an integral part" of the Riviera development, according to John Kosseris, husband of Penrith Mega Homebase director Patricia Kosseris.
The land, one of the last vacant commercial l and sites in the Dubbo CBD, was sold by Ray White Commercial Dubbo on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).
Earlier this year expressions of interest were called to purchase it, which, according to selling agent Rod Crowfoot attracted interest from local, metropolitan and interstate buyers.
The expressions of interest closed on August 15 and contracts were exchanged with the successful buyer last month.
Mr Crowfoot said the 9,314 square metre site "had become surplus to requirements for RMS".
"The vacant lot has an enormous 170m visual frontage to the Mitchell Highway and offers views across the Macquarie River and river flats as well as laneway access to Bultje Street," he said.
"The CBD is land locked and cannot expand any further which is why having land with this zoning is very valuable."
Mr Kosseris would not reveal the price paid for the land, nor whether there were further land purchases planned in Dubbo in the near future.
He did, however, say there had continued to be strong interest from both prospective retail tenants and residential tenants.
"We have had an extraordinary amount of enquiry in regard to the shoptop housing overlooking the Macquarie River," Mr Kosseris said.
Earlier this year RMS announced any proceeds from the sale of the Dubbo land would be earmarked for road safety and construction projects.
