Monaghan wins A-grade in trying conditions

Shooting over the long 1000 yard range at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday was hampered by strong winds from the south which continued all afternoon.

Once again, numbers were up with the inclusion of visitors from Melbourne and the Hunter Valley.

Early leaders in the shoot were Brandon Quarmby, with a 40/50 from Scott Monaghan on 39/50.

In F-class, visiting shooter Bill Alcie fired a 47/60 to lead Rob Rainbow on 45/60.

In the second stage, conditions were no better and the A-grade Cock O'the Walk went to Scott Monaghan with an off-rifle score of 82/100.

The F-class badge went to Rob Rainbow who fired a 52/60 second stage to finish on 97/120. B-grade was won by Noel Thompson and new shooter, Lachlan Simpson, finished on 61/100 to win C-grade.

The weekly handicap trophy was won by Rob Rainbow, who also managed to clean up the white spot and take home the jackpot.

Some early shooters suffered the worst conditions until the wind settled later in the day and group sizes became smaller.

Group aggregate: Jack Saligari 8.819 inches

Score aggregate: Rob Rainbow 41.5
