About the role: 

  • We currently have a number of Plumbing positions available. As a Plumber with Toowoomba Regional Council, you will undertake a range of plumbing and labouring works of a municipal nature. Previous experience with municipal works is desirable, however, is not essential to be successful in this role.  
  • The wage rate for this position is $1200.70 gross per week, plus allowances (e.g. leading hand allowance, tool allowance, construction allowance etc), reasonable overtime, 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
  • Receive your base salary rain, hail or shine, as our employees receive inclement weather pay and further allowances for working in the rain (conditions apply).
  • These positions participate as part of a rotating after-hours on-call roster system. Whilst on-call, a restricted private use vehicle is supplied, and overtime rates apply for time worked.  
  • These positions are all Permanent Full-time, located at TRC’s Principal Depot in Charlton.
  • These positions offer a genuine work-life balance by participating in a 9-day fortnight working arrangement.

To be successful in this position, you willhave:

  1. The mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience –
    • A Current Queensland Plumber’s Licence
    • A Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
    • Possession of a WH&S Competency Card for CPCCOHS1001A – Work Safely in the Construction Industry or 30215QLD – Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry), or a willingness to obtain this card before commencement
  2. Demonstrated ability to exercise skills gained through satisfactory completion of the training prescribed at this level.
  3. Ability to apply legislation relevant to the work area.
  4. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  5. The ability to ensure all work performed to meet safety legislative requirements and responsibilities of Council. This includes complying with all workplace instructions and procedures, using protective equipment provided and not placing any peoples’ safety at risk by your actions.
  6. Ability to complete daily works records neatly and correctly.
  7. Sound numeracy, written and oral communication skills.
  8. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide accurate timely advice in a helpful and supportive manner.
  9. Ability to instruct apprentices in the correct performance of trade-related skills.
  10. A commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Teamwork.
