About the opportunity:

Journey Early Learning is on the path to exceeding and, with that, we are looking for an inspiring and knowledgeable Early Childhood Teacher Mentor to join our growing Quality and Compliance Team.

Reporting to our Quality & Compliance Manager, this role has been created to engage and retain our existing Early Childhood Teachers to support their growth and development within our targeted ECT programme. In your new role, you will ensure all our Early Childhood Teachers meet the professional development needs of their yearly registration and do this in line with the Journey Standards and Approach to Education and Care.

You will commence in the role working 24 hours per week and travelling to our centres across Victoria, the Northern Territory and Queensland. 

Our perfect applicant will have experience within the Early Education & Care sector, as you’ve previously led your team on the path to exceeding with demonstrated expertise in providing high-quality care for all children. You will also need to be a fully qualified Early Childhood Teacher with full VIT Registration

Having direct contact with our Early Childhood Teachers, your primary responsibilities will include: 

  • Ensure all of our current ECTs are meeting the professional development needs of their early registration in line with the Journey Standards and Approach to Education and Care.
  • Working practically with our centres around the opportunities available for SRF and other workforce grants to ensure quality training is being obtained.
  • Undertaking Department mentor training
  • Providing support for our fully registered teachers in Victoria, Queensland, and the Northern Territory to ensure they are meeting their professional development needs
  • Researching and developing a partnership with SRF providers in consultation with Learning & Development
  • Driving relationships with schools, building on our community focus and having a targeted approach.
  • Delivery of online or face to face training to continue to drive our Learning and Development focus for our ECTs

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher with full VIT Registration
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is advantageous
  • Experience within the sector in a key leadership role (Centre Manager, Curriculum Leader, Educational Leader) 
  • Experience working within exceeding practices under the existing assessment and rating system
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the National Quality Standards and The Education and Care Services National Regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to create and nurture relationships 
  • Full working rights in Australia
