Your new company

Our client is an established local council based in Bundaberg. They are looking for workers to maintain their infrastructure team. This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Your new role

You will be joining the Council's infrastructure team with the focus of this position is to be part of a multi-disciplined team that is capable of performing a wide range of maintenance, repair and construction activities within the Civil Works section. The position involves manual labouring for maintenance and construction works, including but not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining a safe working environment
  • Manual handling
  • Working with mobile plant
  • Working with underground utilities
  • Working at Heights and Confined Spaces
  • Working on Bridges, Major Culverts and Roads
  • Placing and finishing concrete
  • Sprayed bituminous and asphalt work
  • Setting up simple formwork and steel fixing
  • Installation of road and bridge furniture
  • Set out and line marking of road infrastructure
  • Other duties as directed
  • Ensure that job sites and operations being performed are in line with Work Health and Safety requirements.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, plant and machinery in accordance with Council’s requirements.
  • Daily completion of relevant paperwork.

What you'll need to succeed

Mandatory:

  • Unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Ability to complete ‘Working at Heights Certificate’
  • Possession of a Construction Industry General Safety Induction Card.
  • Ability to complete “Working in Proximity to Traffic” course prior to commencement.
  • Demonstrated physical fitness and capability to undertake manual labouring work.
  • Demonstrated experience in Roads, Drainage and Bridge construction and maintenance, e.g. placing and finishing concrete, sprayed bituminous and asphalt work, timber carpentry road furniture and line marking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment to ensure that outcomes are achieved.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with a variety of internal and external parties.

Desired:

  • Possession of a current Class ‘MR’ or ‘HR’ Drivers Licence.
  • Possession of a Traffic Controller Accreditation with experience undertaking traffic control and signage set-out on public roads.
