Job Description

Your new opportunity at Nine.

The Australian Financial Review is seeking experienced, innovative audio storytellers to help shape the audio presence of Australia’s leading national masthead.

Reporting to our Deputy Editor, you’ll be working with journalists, producers and editors across the country to create high-quality audio content that reflects our editorial values and reaches our audiences via podcasting, smart speakers and beyond. 

We are looking for people who: 

  • Are passionate and experienced in podcasting and innovative audio storytelling 
  • Are able to think quickly and act decisively in a fast-paced news environment 
  • Have a strong, audience-focused news sense 
  • Think about emerging destinations for news audio, including Google Home, Alexa, Siri 
  • Have great organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, and a track record of turning around audio on a tight deadline 

Key capabilities include: 

  • Strong experience in studio and field recording, and post-production in Adobe Audition 
  • Ability to script, voice and edit audio stories that push boundaries and innovate 
  • Comfort and skill coaching talent 
  • Eagerness to take direction and grow in the position 
  • Efficiency and grace under tight deadlines 
  • Manage publishing across multiple platforms, and monitor audience analytics 

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure excellent production and editorial standards 
  • Contribute to planning and pre-production of new audio projects 
  • Contribute to defining production workflows, resourcing, sound design and editorial process and policy definitions for audio across the newsrooms 
  • Ensure that all legal, cultural and editorial policies and processes are followed
