SUBAK Martial Arts has hosted a successful grading to conclude term 1 and, in what was an eventful night, students were put through their paces by Head of Style Kim Macrae - a 5th Dan Black Belt.

Macrae was very impressed with the students’ development and enthusiasm shown during the grading.
“The Subak students have learnt a range of skills including sparring, patterns and grappling. iKiFiT is also a significant component of the grading with a special emphasis on fencing drills and cardio conditioning,” he said.
“These skills were put to the test during the two-hour grading.”
He also commented on the excellent sparring and spirit of the club members.
All students impressed on the night. Some notable mentions included three students who are working towards attaining their black belts in December.
Sisters Teagen, Deena and Shaye Percy put on a spirited display of martial arts with sparring. This topped off a busy week for the Percy sisters who all gained medals at the Australian Martial Arts Championships.
Other students who demonstrated outstanding skills include Brayden Polley, Courtney Wheatland and Caitlin Ryman who performed excellent turning kicks and gained their Green belts.
Stephanie Moores demonstrated an excellent spirit with a nonstop effort during the grading and the skilful use of the iKi Stick. She gained her Senior Green Belt and is aiming to soon get her first Senior Rank in Subak Martial Arts.
Father and daughter team of William and Leanna Mills continue to develop their skills with a tremendous attitude and dedication to training.
They both gained their Senior Yellow Belt.
Cathy Keevers continues to develop her martial arts skills with another fine performance at a grading exam.
Cathy is dedicated to developing her skills and is to be commended for her enthusiasm at all times. Subak Martial Arts passes on its congratulations to all students who did so well at their grading.
Instructor Anthony O’Leary was pleased with the enthusiasm displayed by all of the students.
“I commend the students for their commitment in learning the skills of Subak Martial Arts and I am looking forward to seeing the continued growth of the students next term,” he said.
