Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson said more than 700 people were in Dubbo for the three-day event, with feedback received from participants and the local business community being "overwhelmingly positive".

"Council is receiving wonderful feedback about the conference from all areas of the community and I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank those involved in the preparation and delivery of this major event,'' he said.

"Whether it be supplying tablecloths, flowers or local produce through to sound and lighting equipment, more than 50 local suppliers helped make this conference one of the best held to date.

"The Dubbo community put its best foot forward and we now have hundreds of new ambassadors singing the praises of Dubbo throughout NSW.

"It is important to add that the conference was totally self-funded through registrations and sponsorship, so no ratepayer funds were used to promote Dubbo in such a positive way.''

Cr Dickerson also thanked the conference sponsors and trade exhibitors.

"Without their support a conference of this scale and importance would not be possible."

He said it was estimated that - taking into account the multiplier effect - the LGA Conference may have injected some $700,000 into the local economy.

"Whether you provided a bed, a meal, a taxi service or even a smiling face, the flow-on effects of this conference are wide ranging," Cr Dickerson said.

"The Dubbo community really stepped up and put its best foot forward throughout the conference period - a great effort that will most certainly lead to repeat visitation by delegates and their families.

"So a big thank you to all involved - particularly council staff who made every effort to ensure the conference went off without a hitch."
