Samantha Wallace and Kate Kennedy competed at the Australian Schools Championships as members of the NSW School squad. The squad’s combined results earned a silver medal position.
Rebecca Kennedy is the W-12A NSW Orienteer of the Year by virtue of her performance throughout the year. Her achievements and dedication also earned her the 2011 Western Plains Orienteer of the Year trophy.
Katie Wallace is the runner up W-12A NSW Orienteer of the Year while Sally Devenish won the NSW Orienteering Handicap for Red 9.
As well, Karen Hagan was runner up W-21AS NSW Long Distance Champion and runner up W-21AS NSW Sprint Champion.
To complete the awards list, Samantha Wallace, Kate Kennedy, Rebecca Kennedy and Kate Wallace also earned Orienteering Association NSW Waratah Awards.
The club is looking forward to a busy 2012 which, in addition to State League events, will include many local events and the Central West Schools Championships.
The club’s squad is presently training hard for the Christmas Five Days Orienteering Carnival which will take place near Newcastle this year.
