The Blues are in an overwhlemingly strong position after bowling the Tigers out for just 57 on the opening day and then piling on 8/174 in reply.
Mark Reichelt and Luke Patis each took three wickets as Newtown were bundled out in just 24 overs.
Brett Wrigley was the only Newtown batsman to reach double figures, scoring 14 before falling victim to Reichelt.
Macquarie lost 4/9 to start their innings before a 109-run partnership betwen Justin Gavin and Jonathon Blizzard gave them the lead and some breathing space.
Some late wickets from Newtown dragged them back into the contest but they face a long, hard slog if they are to get anything from the game on day two.

Brian Carroll once again bowled well for CYMS, taking 3/32 off 10 overs but the good work in the field was undone by the batsmen, who collapsed to be 7/40 when stumps was called.

At one stage they were 1/66 however a six-wicket haul from Joel Johnston helped Souths get themselves back into the contest.
