The odds were in favour of Cheryl Simpson in the 36-hole event who led 1-up with just the last hole to be played. However Madgwick managed to win that hole with a four despite being in a bunker and forced the game down to the 37th.
Unfortunately for Simpson she hit out of bounds with her third shot which eventually was her downfall.
Madgwick said she was delighted with the win in a trophy that is one of the most sought after by the Dubbo ladies.
“I’m really, really pleased. I just loved it,” she said.
“It was a really good final and we both played well although I knew it would always be hard for me because I had to give Cheryl 14 shots on each 18.
“I thought I was finished a couple of times and even on the 36th hole I was surprised to win it which meant we had to go down the 1st hole for the third time.”
The biggest margin all day between the two ladies was two holes which showed how evenly matched they were.
After 30 holes they were all square, then Madgwick was 1-up with four to play before Simpson won two of the next three holes to hold that lead until the 36th.
In the club events for the ladies yesterday Helen Piper and Sue Orbell combined to win the Canadian Foursomes play on the 1-18 course.
They had 65 nett to win from Joe Searle and Chris Gosper with 66-1/4.
The trophies were donated by Reward Distribution.
In the ball competitions, Gosper and Searle headed the list over the field from Rose Monaghan and Jan Macadam (70-3/4); Rhonda Richards, Chris Roberts (70-5/8); Mary Walker, Pam Dawson (72-7/8); Bess Whiteley, Judy Kelly (73-1/8); and Annette Clark, Eunice Fraser (73-1/4).
The pro shop balls went to Piper and Orbell; Gosper and Searle; and Richards and Chris Roberts.
Three nearest to the pins were decided with the winners being Chris Roberts (5th); Nicole Johnston (11th) and Pam Dawson (15th).

The Dubbo men on Wednesday played a Tiger Stableford with Steve Tracey (40) and Ben Amor (38) the best of the 101 players.
Playing off 17 handicap, Tracey had the day’s best card of 40 points, to win from John Beith (29) with 37 after a countback.
In Division 1, Amor had a round being just a couple over par off 40 handicap to win by one from Wayne Woodbridge (11) with 37.
The 1-18 course was set up in spectacular fashion with some touch pin placements a feature.
One such test was on the 18th with the hole cut just inside the top left edge of the green. The best shot of the day on this hole was Michael Fraser to 1600cm.
Other winners were Ben Amor (5th) 268cm; Leigh Wilcox (8th) 520cm; John Ferrari (11th) 38cm and Grahame Allan on the 15th at 400cm.
Allan’s delivery from the bottom tee to the pin at the back of the right hand side bunker must have looked spectacular; and of course Ferrari’s tee shot on 11th was just as good.
