Holloway was last week appointed as chief steward of the Northern Rivers Racing Association following the recent departure of Craig Pringle.
Holloway has been a steward in Dubbo since 2004, working under chief steward Todd Smith and with a host of young stewards that have moved on to Sydney and other regional centres of NSW.
After studying agriculture science at university, Holloway worked for the world famous Coolmore Stud in Ireland before returning to Australia to work at Crown Lodge, the operation formerly run by the Ingham brothers.
“In 2002 when I left Crown Lodge I started with registrations at Racing NSW and then moved into a role with the stewards,” Holloway said.
“In November 2004 I was sent out to Dubbo to be deputy chief of this region and I’ve been here since although I did have 18 months off to be an accountant in 2008 and 2009.”
Holloway will join another former central west steward Tim Saladine at Racing NSW’s office at Grafton.
But he’s unsure as to whether he will be there in time for the famous Ramornie Handicap carnival, which will be held early next month.
“There’s still a few things to sort out here before I move so I’m not sure if I will be there in time for the carnival, which is one of the biggest country carnivals in NSW,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to the move. It’s a career progression and a new challenge.
“I have enjoyed my time in Dubbo and the central west and it was a wonderful area to learn the trade.”
