It’s a huge relief for Ms Burns after the worrying saga which involved the 33-year-old mum searching for appropriate accommodation and assistance for her three children and the three she was due to deliver.
Her friend and confidant Linda Snelson, who’s organising an RSL fundraiser for the struggling mum, said both mother and babies were now “doing really well”.
“They’re very small but they’ve started to breath on their own, which is great,” Ms Snelson
said.
They were delivered just after 11am yesterday in Canberra.
Ms Burns, 33, was first brought to the attention of the Daily Liberal earlier in the week when it was revealed she sold a personal possession to pay for the petrol
money to go to Sydney for her delivery.
Ms Snelson expressed fears about the wellbeing of the mother and children, stressing they didn’t have adequate housing for the growing family.
The father of the children is reportedly in jail and Ms Burns is living off a “sole parent pension”.
A heavily-pregnant Ms Burns made the trip to Sydney on Thursday but couldn’t be placed in a Sydney maternity ward due to a reported lack of “neonatal beds”.
She was subsequently moved to Canberra Royal Hospital where her triplets were delivered via caesarian section.
Jacquarhn was the first to be born at 11.25am. He weighed 1020 grams.
His sister, Montayah, was born shortly after, weighing 1480 grams, followed by second boy Jyqueel, who weighed 857 grams.
The three babies will join siblings Jamarra, 9, Jarmaine, 7, and Malcolm, 4, in Dubbo.
“Bronwyn’s so happy, she can’t stop gloating on Facebook,” Ms Snelson said. Ms Snelson is holding a fundraiser for the young family at Dubbo RSL from 2pm to 8pm tomorrow.
More than 23 businesses have already donated prizes to be auctioned off on the day.
The close family friend of Ms Burns has lashed out at residents who have criticised the new mum for “putting her hand out for donations” and said Ms Burns had nothing to do with the fundraiser.
“Bronwyn has not asked anyone for help it was all my doing,” she said.
“She’s a selfless and shy woman who would never ask for something like this, so I’m asking the Dubbo community to get behind a struggling mum who’s just trying to look after her kids.”
