NSW Beef Spectacular and Farm Trade Expo organisers have added cash prizes and other activities to the event’s program this year to give it more clout in the industry and bring people through the gates.
Now in its fifth year and a fixture on the Dubbo showground calendar, the NSW Beef Spectacular and Farm Trade Expo has a tightened format of a two-day field day to complement the beef cattle show on March 16-17.
More than 300 exhibitors from across NSW, Queensland and Victoria will pit their produce against the best.
Westpac Agribusiness will be one of those with a site at the event and a quest by Dubbo employees to make their marquee stand out has led to the steer guessing competition.
The steer will be auctioned on the first night with 50 per cent of the proceeds to go to the person who can correctly guess his weight.
“We would hope the steer would make between $600 and $900, so it could be a substantial prize to whoever guesses correctly,” Westpac agribusiness central west manager Cameron Beard said.
The Kidman Poll Hereford Stud steer’s sale will also fund a junior to learn more about the industry.
Entry to the spectacular is free and visitors can go in the draw to win a daily prize of $1250 or a $3000 GPS unit just by attending the event.
