Winning three of the six state trophies that they competed for, along with a swag of medals, 24 gold, seven silver and seven bronze.
The charge was led by Rose Toms-Black who won the 50m and 200m backstroke, 50 and 100m freestyle and the 50m butterfly in her age group. A total of five individual gold medals placed Rose first in her age group.
Troy White, who now lives in Ballina with his partner Deborah Anderson, won five individual gold medals.
He dominated the backstroke events before adding the 50m and 100m butterfly golds to give him first place in his age group.
At her first outing with the Redfins, Deborah Anderson placed second in her age group winning a gold, silver and bronze butterfly, freestyle and breaststroke.
Mark Scullard showed his swimming pedigree with his tally of individual medals for breaststroke and freestyle totalling four gold and one silver medal, which also gave him a win in his age group.
AJ Newman finished second in his age group, winning all of his freestyle events and placing second in the 50m and 100m butterfly events.
This brought AJ’s individual tally to three gold and two silver state championship medals.
Jo May, a relative newcomer to the sport of swimming, placed 10th overall in her age division with her best result a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle, along with performances in butterfly and breaststroke.
Letitia Gallagher continued her success at state level winning silver in the 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke as well as bronze in the 50m freestyle.
After 16 years away from competitive swimming Jaid Dawson competed in his first Masters carnival with great success, medalling in all events he contested. He won gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events and bronze in the 50m freestyle and the 50m fly.
John Wherritt, the senior Redfin tactician at the meet skillfully placed himself among the medals in the men’s 60 - 64 year age division placing seventh overall.
John won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle where he showed his superior fitness and outstayed his opposition.
John won bronze medals in the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.
The club also successfully competed in the relay events winning gold in the 120-159 age group (four swimmers, average age 30 to 39 years) and 200m freestyle mixed relay. AJ, Rose, Deborah and Troy blitzed the four laps in one minute 48.96 seconds, which was only 0.5 of a second outside the NSW Masters race record.
The same team placed second in the mixed 200m 120+ mixed medley relay.
The other successful relay was the men’s 120+ medley relay, the last event of the two-day meet where Troy, Mark, Jaid and AJ won yet another gold medal to add to their haul.
The major presentations proved to be very fruitful for the Redfins.
The club won Division 3 and Peter Gallagher accepted the State Cup on behalf of the Dubbo Club.
Peter was called back twice more to the podium with Dubbo Redfins also winning the Average Individual Point Score Trophy and the Executive Trophy for the club with the highest participation rate with 10 of 17 registered swimmers attending the Championships.
Dubbo was arguably the most successful club at the meet.
