Long-range shooting history was made on the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range when the club had the privilege of introducing and hosting the inaugural 1000 yard International Benchrest Postal Match in NSW.

Results achieved by the traditional class competitors are included in the Australian Individual and Team aggregates and are compared with those achieved by the members of the Virginia 1000yd Benchrest Club in the USA.
The International Postal Match concept began during 2009 and is a unique competitive long-range shooting contest between Australian and American riflemen and women.
Other Australian clubs that host this event include Canberra, Townsville, Brisbane and the Murray Bridge Rifle club in South Australia.
The Narromine-Dubbo club is also the first Australian club to introduce and recognise separate classes for traditional and standard 1000 yard benchrest competition.
Eleven Central Western competitors attended on Sunday and performed extremely well over the long distance in challenging conditions.
Standard Class, Heavy Gun: Steve Reddon (group results 19.375” 16.75” group agg. 18.06” scores - 89 92 score agg 90.5).
Standard Class - Light Gun: John Brooks (group results 16.50’’ 7.00” group agg. 11.75” scores - 45 47 score agg. 46; Mick Catelotti (group results 15.9625” 32” group agg 23.98” scores - 32 24 score agg. 28); Sam Foreman (group results 22.375” 30.75” group agg 26.56” scores - 39 39 score agg 39; Jim Russ (group results 11.5” NG scores - 45 NS); Graham Woods (group results 11.375” NG scores- 41 NS).
Traditional Class - Light Gun: Dave Goodridge (group results 8.500” 7.875” group agg 8.188” scores - 46.2 47 score agg 46.6); Peter Kay (group results 27.00” 12.75” group agg 19.88” scores - 27 43 score agg 35); Larry Bartimote (NG NS); Ray Mulholland (NG NS).
The next scheduled International 1000 yard Postal Match BR event on the Narromine Dubbo range will be on Sunday, November 7, with additional matches for 2011 planned during March, May, July, September and November.
