Sydneysider Woods last year smashed his own record for the 9km event, hitting the finish line in 29 minutes 1 second, well under his 2007 mark of 29:36.
The record time from last year will be set in stone with the 2010 course extended to 10.4kms to fit in with major renovations made to Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
Woods has won the prestigious event and The Daily Liberal Cup for the past three years.
Last year he got the better of former Dubbo triathlon cup member Aaron Farlow (Canberra) with Orange Runners Club member Rod Draper third.
Best of the Dubbo runners was Craig May in seventh place.
Meanwhile, Dubbo’s Jane Fardell could be the one to beat for the MBF Trophy for females depending on where she might be in her globetrotting search for the right events.
She has travelled extensively since winning the Dubbo run last year.
She dominated the event on that occasion, winning in 33 minutes 51 seconds, beating Christine Wolfson’s record time of 35:18 set in 2007.
Wolfson finished second behind Fardell and was denied her fourth successive win.
Wolfson’s Orange team-mate Amber Rich was third.
The zoo run is held each year and organised by members of the South and West Dubbo Rotary clubs as a community service event to promote the world wide organisation and a healthy lifestyle.
More than 200 runners took part last year which was the biggest number for some time.
The overall figures were boosted by 350 walkers who made their own time over a 5km lap of the zoo.
Everyone can be a part of this year’s event.
The run starts at 10am and the walk 10.30am and everyone has till 12pm to finish.
Entry forms are available from MBF, The Daily Liberal, Radio 2DU, Axxis Technology, Brian Barnes Sports Power, Whitney’s Jewellers and Gearin Up at Orana Mall.
There are also entry forms on the Daily Liberal and Rotary South Dubbo websites.
All completed entry forms must be lodged with the good people at Golden West Finance in Macquarie Street, next to the RTA office.
The cost is $30 for mum, dad and the kids; $15 for single entries.
Late entries will be accepted on the day but there will be no family concessions, instead the cost will be $20 per person, adults and children - hence the need to pre-enter as soon as possible.
All entry fees will be used to fund Rotary community service projects in Dubbo and also to sponsor animals at the zoo.
