Dubbo real estate agent Andrew McDonald will return to the “strong prospects” identified in the past two months to find a buyer for the Palmer Street lot.
Receivers and managers of the landmark property KordaMentha this week instructed the agents to “resume discussions with all previously interested parties”.
KordaMentha’s decision came after they were unable to reach a settlement with the leading tenderer from a campaign conducted in June and July.
The 39-hectare property has been in the hands of the Sydney receiver since former Dubbo businessman John Kosseris’ company SPV2 went into receivership in 2009.
KordaMentha announced the former RAAF base would be sold by public tender in June.
Mr Kosseris paid the Commonwealth $4.65 million for the property in 2003.
Mr McDonald said yesterday he would make contact with the parties that had previously expressed an interest in the property - about 50 people.
“(About 50) inquiries have been received during and since the recent marketing campaign of the former RAAF Stores Depot in Dubbo,” he said.
“While a number of tenders to purchase were received, and the receivers have been in negotiation with a preferred party for some time, a satisfactory sale resolution has not yet been achieved.
“The receivers and managers have therefore instructed the selling agents to resume discussions with all previously interested parties.
“New inquiries from prospective purchasers are free to enquire and purchase if desired.”
The agent called the original campaign “successful” because it had resulted in a “number of tenders”, even if settlement had not been reached.
“It was not price-related, it was more the fine detail that caused negotiations to flounder,” Mr McDonald said.
He remained optimistic a sale would be achieved.
“There remains significant interest in this outstanding development opportunity and so we anticipate a successful outcome in the near future,” he said.
