Three men made brief appearances in Dubbo Local Court yesterday charged over a violent break and enter during which a householder was allegedly punched and kicked to the ground, hit with a Jim Beam bottle and threatened with a knife.

Darryl Newman, 25, of Dubbo and co-accused Tyson Carr, 19, and David Chatfield, 24, both of Gilgandra faced Magistrate Howard Hamilton via audiovisual link from Wellington Correctional Centre.
The men have entered no pleas to charges of special aggravated break and enter with wounding and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence inflict actual bodily harm.
The Department of Public Prosecutions asked for a four week adjournment. Newman, Carr and Chatfield will reappear for committal on August 4.
There were no applications for bail and bail was formally refused for each man.
Police allege Newman, Carr and Chatfield entered a house in Bundy Street, Gilgandra on January 23 this year.
According to facts tendered to the court, the owner of the property was viciously assaulted as demands were made for money.
The victim is alleged to have yelled for help as he was allegedly punched and kicked to the head before falling to the ground.
After scrambling to his feet the victim allegedly ran into his house and shut the door. The accused allegedly forced their way into the dwelling, demanding money.
A 10cm knife is alleged to have been held to the victim and threats were allegedly made to stab him. The victim was taken to Gilgandra hospital. He received five stitches to his top lip and treatment for lacerations and swelling to the face and head.
Police from Gilgandra and Dubbo attended the scene.
Newman was arrested on January 28. Carr was arrested on February 2. Chatfield was arrested on February 5.
