It was a fantastic weekend for round eight of Dubbo netball with all teams proving they can perform in the wet and cold conditions.
As usual there were some mixed results in the Village Hot Bake A-grade competition. The first-placed Apollo Degenerates took on the young guns, Nyngan Tigers and from the first whistle Degenerates dominated the court play.
With fantastic defence from Kyla Flick, Angela Read and Nyoka Boney, coming back from an ankle injury to be in devastating form.
Sharon Edmunds was moved from the defensive end to star in the wing attack position and her passing and perfect combination with centre Tash Robinson made it easy for the Dallinger sisters, Carolyn and Kristy, to combine and easily slot through the goals.
Nyngan played a great game with some great passing down the court and spot-on shooting, but unfortunately the possession didn’t go their way.
In the other A-grade clash, St Seniors also showed great form when they took on Dubbo College.
Great defensive work limited the college to 11 goals for the whole game. St Seniors are showing that they are a team that will give the other teams a run heading into finals.
The last game played in the A-grade division was between Saint Collegians and Apollo Illusions.
After weeks of not having a full team, Illusions had players on the bench ready to play, while Collegians had the bare seven.
Apollo Illusions blasted out from the first whistle, while Collegians struggled to keep up with them. Despite Collegians’ fight back, Apollo came out ahead by three goals.
Dubbo Netball will resume round nine on Saturday July 24.
