Clubs from throughout the western area were represented at the carnival as the season starts to wind down.
Not so lucky were a number of other sporting events in and around Dubbo on the weekend.
Friday night’s Twenty20 night cricket series match between Commercial Cowboys and Pastoral Pirates failed to materialise leaving now just one round before the grand final on February 2.
This Friday night we will see Indoor Magic against Garden Rhinos starting at 6.30pm.
Dubbo senior and junior cricket was also called off as was yesterday’s Brewery Shield district grand final at Nyngan between Dubbo and Bourke.
The Dubbo golf course was closed after mid morning rain on Saturday but some players did start and others went around later in the afternoon despite bunkers being filled with water and no motorised carts being permitted.
Paramount’s junior tennis was also a casualty on Saturday.
Unfortunately the ‘Thunder through the Plains’ 410 Sprintcar series at Morris park Speedway was also washed out.
The Binnaway race meeting was also cancelled.
Discussions are now underway to see whether round two of the NSW Country series can be run at a later date.
Promoters will now regroup and focus on March 19 when the super sedans will rumble into Dubbo for round seven of their NSW Country series.
A full support program including wingless sprints, production sedans and the crazy ZooFM fender benders will make for a very entertaining night of racing.
