A hot Sunday, with temperatures of 29 degrees, developed into a cool Monday overnight thanks to complex low-pressure trough said Mr Danchuk,
who works at the Bureau of Meteorology.
The trough is actually made up of two systems draining cooler weather from over the Great Australian Bight and the Tasman Sea.
“There is a south westerly stream from south of Tasmania coming up across Bass Strait, across the dividing range and into the central west region of NSW,” Mr Danchuk said.
“There was a snow report from Cooma to give you an indication of the cool change,” he said.
“It is a significant cool change but brief.”
Yesterday’s maximum of 23 degrees jumped to a maximum of 26 degrees today but “beginning tomorrow up to next Monday there will be really hot and warm conditions without any cool change expected,” Mr Danchuk explained.
Tomorrow will see a maximum of 36 degrees with the upward trend continuing until it hits a peak of 39 degrees on Saturday.
However Mr Danchuk said the hot weather will continue until at least Australia Day with zero chance of rain.
Mr Danchuk said the “warmer and dry” conditions were caused by a high-pressure system moving into the region, which would then move onto the Sydney coastal region by the weekend.
