With some schools returning yesterday and the remainder today the school year is well and truly upon us.
We spoke to St Pius Primary School student Jackson Skene and Dubbo South Public student Matthew Dodd about the new school year, what they are looking forward to and what they’ll miss most about the school holidays.

Year 4 at St Pius Primary School
Are you looking forward to going back to school? Yes, I am excited to be able to see my friends.
What do you like about school? I like my teacher Mr Cant, he is a good teacher and I like it when we do a lot of sport and English.
What are you hoping to learn more about this year? This term we will be learning a lot about different countries. I want to learn more about Asia.
What will you miss about the holidays? We had an American visitor, I will miss showing her around.
Did you have many new things to take back to school? I have a new bag, and uniform. What I am really excited for is when we have our next mufti day so I can wear some of my new play clothes.

Are you looking forward to going back to school? Yes, I am looking forward to seeing my friends.
What do you like about school? I like most things, I like my teacher Mr Farley who I had last year and will have again this year.
What are you hoping to learn more about this year? I like maths and spelling so I’m hoping to improve on them.
What will you miss about your holidays? Going to Burrendong Dam.
Do you have many new things to take back to school this year? I’ve got a heap of stuff like a new bag and pencil case, it’ll be fun showing the other kids my new stuff.
