With a big spend of $19,750 on food and approximately $60,000 on alcohol, organisers of what is commonly known as Dubbo’s biggest party have ensured there will be enough food and drink to nourish a family of 6000.
Dubbo Turf Club’s secretary manager Mark Day said along with the punters and party goers those who like a bit of a feed hadn’t been forgotten.
“We are not going to run out of anything,” he said.
“For those who are paying their $15 entry we’ve got an all-day barbecue and full bistro menu.
“I know a few people are bringing picnic tables and chairs . . . they can ring ahead and have Therese at Jules Steaks and Crepes on Macquarie Street make up a platter for them to have on the day.”
In the colts and fillies tent 1200 steaks, 1400 sausages, 1500 chicken kebabs, 680 bags of ice and 40 cartons of water have been ordered.
“All the meat has been provided by the men at Larry Dickson’s Burke Street butcher,” Mr Day said.
“There’s nothing but the best - no supermarket meat here.”
For $85 a head those in the Champions’ Marque will be treated to something an little extra special with hors d’oeuvres, a buffet lunch and, of course, dessert.
The Myer tent will serve guests with hot homemade canapés, caviar, prawns and mini caramel tarts, just to name a few.
“We’ve had extra support staff here this week and the functions manager Allyson Neave has been here for 12 hours a day for the past two weeks,” Mr Day said.
“With the amount of stuff she’s ordered, if it rains on the day I’ll be sent broke.”
