Wilson and his twin brother Pat left Australia in June 2007 to work as golf counsellors at Kutsher Sports Academy near New York before spending a ski season at Whistler.
Pat returned home and now plays his golf at Long Reef in Sydney while Lindsay decided to stay on and has now been based in the Canadian ski resort town for the past 18 months snowboarding and roofing houses.
Lindsay returned home in time for his mother Julie’s birthday in September and on Saturday revived former glory days on the golf course with 41 stableford points in the Graincorp Individual Stableford at Dubbo Golf Club.
Playing off two handicap, his score equated to three under off the stick but was not enough to beat Michael Wherritt for the A Grade trophy, who scored 44 points, Lindsay finishing runner up on a countback ahead of Ben Amor.
However, the round, which included five birdies, proved he can still hit a ball despite having snapped his upper arm in a snowboarding incident in March.
Not content with just a round of golf, the energetic Wilson padded up for a cameo appearance with Newtown second grade in the RSL-Pinnington Cup cricket competition.
While his team went down to RSL-Colts in the season opener, Lindsay had his eye in and struck 47 of his team’s 133 runs.
According to his father Bob Wilson, Lindsay will be back on the plane to Canada next Friday, October 23 in time for the start of the 2009-10 winter season.
Speaking with Lindsay on the weekend, he will also be in Whistler for the 2010 Winter Olympics in February and as a local indicated that he is set to benefit from couch surfing during that period.
With Whistler the place to be and accommodation at such a premium during the games, he said that he and his housemates have already lined themselves up to make a small windfall in exchange for their house during February.
Meanwhile the other winners in Saturday’s golf competition were Daniel Brock with 39 points in B Grade and Bill Latta with the best score of the day of 42 points in C Grade.
Gary Wilson (38) and Phillip Dunn (41cb) were the respective runners up while balls went to 39 on countback in A Grade, 36 on countback in B Grade and 41 on countback in C Grade.
