The club’s all-time leading goal scorer Greg Richter has been named vice captain and will be joined by Central West debutants Luke Penrith and Abraham Berkelaar for the annual clash to be played at Wade Park at 2.30pm.
Penrith is moving to Sydney and has already played his last game for the Demons but made himself available for rep duties having first played for the green and golds in 2008.
Berkelaar joins the squad for the first time having moved to Dubbo from Western Australia as a contracted shearer.
Dubbo Demons coach and long time Central West representative Terry Lyons made his comeback from ankle surgery in December against Cowra Blues last Saturday and, while he won’t be playing rep footy this year, believes a strong side has been picked for this weekend’s game.
“All three of the Dubbo guys are good players who have been playing quite well this year,” Lyons said.
“Abraham plays hard and is good value. He plays in the centre for us but will probably be in the backline for the rep team.
“Greg Richter is a stalwart who is always first picked for this team and while we have been moving him around a bit this season he will definitely be in the forwards in the rep team I imagine.
“I think it’s a very good team. This game is good fun and a good opportunity to play with the guys from the other clubs because we’re all only playing for the love of the game out here.”
In 2007 Northern Riverina came from behind to win after Central West suffered three key injuries in quick succession while Central West finished 11th out of 12 in a regional tournament in Wagga last year.
Central West will face Northern Riverina in the under-14s at 11am on Sunday, under-17s at 12.30pm and the opens at 2.30pm.
