Yesterday the shop was decorated with balloons and posters promoting Charlie and encouraging passers by to vote and keep him in the show.
“The staff are excited about it,” store owner Jenny Hall said. “We think he is great.”
The idea came up at one of the team meetings, and the younger employees got behind the idea to make it a reality.
“We are very relieved when he gets through on Monday and then we look forward to his dance on Sunday nights,” Mrs Hall said.
Competition is getting tough and despite Charlie still being favourite on Sportingbet Australia, his competitors are catching up.
His dance partner last weekend - Talia Fowler - has emerged as the main danger to Charlie on the show and is very popular with punters according to Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan.
“Talia has been the best backed dancer since the start of this competition,” he said.
“She seems to be getting stronger each week and is certainly looming as the main danger to Charlie.”
Bets on Charlie to win the competition are paying $2.40, and Talia $3.00.
Keeping Charlie safe in the competition relies completely on viewer’s votes - who now only vote for individual dancers not couples.
Voting begins at the conclusion of each Sunday night performance, and lines are open until the start of the following Monday night show.
The So You Think You Can Dance performance show airs 7.30 Sunday night on Channel 10.
