Miss Rees competed in the Zone Six regional showgirl competition at Grenfell at the weekend.
Competing against 23 others from 30 areas, Ms Rees was named as one of three equal winners and will compete at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show.
The competition ran all day, beginning with a luncheon in business attire where competitors were judged on how well they communicated with others, their presentation and etiquette.
Each competitor then had a 15-minute interview with three judges, where they were asked about ambitions, goals and background on themselves.
In the evening there was a dinner where the girls were required to wear semi-formal outfit.
Former Miss World Belinda Green interviewed the contestants onstage where they were judged on their ability to speak in public.
Miss Rees was crowned winner, along with two other contestants from Nyngan and Forbes.
The three showgirls will travel to the Sydney Royal Easter Show in April to compete.
“It was very challenging. At no point did I know who was going through,” Miss Rees said.
“It was a surprise. If anything there were really great girls there.”
Miss Rees said her ability to be herself was what she thought made her stand out.
“It came down to being down to earth and being who you really are,” she said.
“I was just myself.”
For Miss Rees, the biggest thing to come of the competition is her role as an ambassador for young rural women.
“It’s a great opportunity to further myself,” she said.
