The event was a huge success, attracting 84 sponsored teams of three people for the competition and raising well in excess of $7000.
According to organiser Barry Brebner the event was “fantastic”, saying everyone who was there had fun and was very enthusiastic.
“I have been involved with events like these here in Dubbo for 35 years and it never ceases to amaze me just how much community support you receive from local people,” Brebner said.
“If help is needed Dubbo people are always forthcoming.”
Brebner said people even travelled from Wellington, Gulargambone and Goodooga for the event.
winners of the two-bowl triples were P Trimble, M Goodwin and T Grant, who all drew out of a hat for the top prizemoney of $750.
In second place were D Hagarty, B Baker and K Hagarty who did the same for $200.
Peta Carolan was the winner of the ‘spider’ competition and for that she received $50.
Crutchers IGA in Tamworth Street donated the prizemoney for the competitions.
“We would like to thank Dubbo Rotary for all their catering work at lunch and to the bowls ladies who took care of all the salads,” Brebner said.
“We would also like to thank all the sponsors involved in the success of the day.”
