They plan on making it to their son Daniel’s rugby league grand final here in Dubbo tomorrow night and their daughter Tayla’s soccer grand final in Sydney on Sunday.

Daniel will run on for Dubbo Macquarie first grade under lights tomorrow when they take on cross-town rivals Dubbo CYMS for the premiership title.

Younger sister Tayla will charge on for the Western Panthers in their women’s premier league soccer grand final held in Sydney on Sunday morning.

While immensely proud of their children’s achievements, Kerry and Scott know it will be a hectic weekend ahead of them.

Kerry said the family would watch 21-year-old Daniel play his grand final on Saturday night and then leave for Sydney at 3am on Sunday to make it to Sydney in time for Tayla’s big match.

She said it was nothing out of the usual for her and Scott to be running around the countryside following their children’s sport, adding it had been the same ever since they were little.

“The kids have always played sport,” Kerry said.

“There is usually something on all year round, if it isn’t football or soccer it’s cricket.”

As well as Daniel and 12-year-old Tayla, Scott and Kerry have another little boy, 8-year-old Callan, who plays rugby league on Saturdays.

Kerry said for the majority of this year they had watched Callan play football on Saturdays, then travelled to Bathurst early on Sunday to watch Tayla play soccer before making it back in time on Sunday afternoon to watch Daniel.

As well as her soccer achievements, Tayla is also well known for her abilities on the cricket pitch, making the NSW PSSA girls team last year.

Daniel’s also well known for his talent as a second rower for Macquarie and his soccer achievements from when he was younger.

There is little doubt as to where the kids get their love of sport, with mum Kerry still making time to play for the local Hockey side EDH/Waratahs.
