He relocated at the weekend and will start work at Dr Jane Weyand’s medical practice at 50 Bultje Street on April 8.
Dr Roth graduated from Newcastle University in 1991 and worked at Prince of Wales and Westmead hospitals in Sydney before starting general practice in Newcastle.
His wide medical experience includes palliative care, paediatrics and a special interest in acupuncture.
Born in Mudgee, Dr Roth and his family are moving here to be near his wife’s parents, who are lifelong Dubbo residents.
“I grew up on a farm near Mudgee while my wife spent her school years in Dubbo,” Dr Roth said.
“We have three children now and wanted to move close to our families because we strongly believe that children should be around their grandparents and vice versa”.
Dr Roth is looking forward to the challenges of being a rural GP and reconnecting with the land.
He is excited about providing quality health care to the people of Dubbo and the surrounding area and will be using acupuncture (delivered via needles or laser) to treat a range of conditions including arthritis and muscle pain.
“I studied acupuncture through Monash University and am a member of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College.
“Laser is great for people who aren’t keen on needles, as well as being quick and effective”, Dr Roth said.
“Acupuncture has a lot going for it, providing significant relief without major side effects.’’
