Mr Olsen, 24, was killed in a horrific car accident near Narromine on Saturday night.
Yesterday his friends paid tribute to a man they described as a “genuine bloke”.
A dedicated member of the Dubbo Rhinos Rugby Club, Mr Olsen’s death has shaken Dubbo’s sporting community.
The local sporting community is in shock over the sudden loss of “genuine bloke” Dwayne Paul Olsen, who died on Saturday in a car accident near Narromine.
Tomorrow, family and friends will gather to farewell the 24-year-old Dubbo man who died when the car he was travelling in veered off Burroway Road, 42km north of Narromine.
Mr Olsen was a member of the Dubbo Rhinos Rugby Club, where he “floated around the grades” and played “wherever he was needed”.
Friend and fellow rugby club player Graham Robinson painted a picture of a typical 24-year-old man, describing Mr Olsen as someone with a good sense of humour who played for the social side of the game.
“It’s not going to be the same without seeing Dwayne’s face around at training and at the games,” Mr Robinson said.
“The club’s going to miss him.”
The club held a training session last night where it was expected there would be an official announcement of Mr Olsen’s death.
“He had a good sense of humour, there’s probably a story from every away game he played,” Mr Robinson said.
“He really was the type of guy who wasn’t there to play top-grade football, he was there for the social side.”
The death has sent shock waves through the club.
Mr Robinson had spoken to several other friends who all knew Mr Olsen, saying they were all shocked by the sudden loss.
“He was just a genuine sort of bloke who said what he thought.
“With Dwayne, you always knew that what you saw was what you got.”
Mr Robinson said the last time they saw Mr Olsen was probably last week’s training session.
“He was just the sort of bloke that no one had a problem with,” he said.
“It didn’t matter what position he was put in, he’d give it his all on the field and I guess he was like that off the field too.”
His funeral will be held tomorrow at the Dubbo Memorial Gardens Crematorium from 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, his family is asking for donations to the Dubbo Rhinos Rugby Club.
Police are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal crash on Saturday.
Mr Olsen died at Narromine Hospital after the white dual cab four-wheel drive utility he was travelling in veered off the road into a drain.
Three others were also seriously injured in the crash and taken to hospital.
A 22-year-old woman was released from Dubbo Base Hospital on Sunday.
A 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman remain in hospital in a stable condition.
