Motorex KTM rider Simmonds, from Bourke, took the win and new recruit Jason Reed placed third.
Reed and Simmonds also competed on the KTM 125 SX in their respective age groups with both riders taking the outright win.
Simmonds lived up to his usual form of dominance in the Junior Lites to take the win but had a little competition in the 16 years 125cc class from Keiron Hall.
“I had a lot of fun once the track dried out after all the rain but I made a few mistakes in one of my three motos in the 125cc class, giving Keiron Hall an edge to take a win,” Simmonds said.
“I won the other two 125cc motos, so I got the class win at the end of the round.
“Coming home with two class wins in both the Junior Lites and 125cc class is a great result for Motorex KTM junior racing, it just shows how reliable our bikes are in a competitive environment.”
Simmonds will spend the next two weeks training at the Australian Institute of Sport Motocross Academy, while Jason Reed will begin his testing plan for the KTM 250 SX-F and 125 SX machines.
Riding in front of his home town, Reed had minimal practice due to heavy rain prior to racing, yet still let his talent shine with a 3-4-4 results in the 13 to under-16 years Junior Lites class, which gave him third overall for the day.
Reed’s biggest achievement came with his entry into the 125cc 13-14 years class, where he nailed three consecutive hole shots on the KTM 125 SX to follow through with three moto wins and the overall victory in the 125cc class.
Commenting on his racing Reed said: “Both the KTM 250 SX-F and 125 SX are new bikes to me and I took to them both with ease.
“They were so much fun to ride and really reliable which helped me take to the podium.
“I only got these bikes during the week so to come out and be competitive on them straight up was a real confidence booster and I’m looking forward to spending a few more hours on the track to personalise the set-up.”
