The final 15 minutes, however, worried the injured five-eighth.

The Fishies won the match 48-28 but the scoreline could have been much better for his side had they not let the Roosters in for three late tries.

While happy to take the two points, Ryan said he would speak to his side about its execution late in the match, especially given they have a local derby against Macquarie coming up this Friday night.

"Early on I thought we were great," Ryan said.

"We completed our first 10 sets with the ball but I think in the last 15 minutes we completed just two.

"The boys probably got a bit carried away given we were leading 48-10 at the time but you can't afford those patches in any game.

"I am big on defence and I would rather have seen us win 10-0 today than 48-28 but we will take the two points and march on towards next week."

The junior strength within the club again came to the fore yesterday, with Reece Mastellotto scoring two tries in his first-grade debut and Tom Yeo also crossing for his first try in the top grade.

Winger Nelson Dotoi made his comeback to the side after a fortnight off following a high tackle from Manildra's Troy Allen.

"It was good to get back out there again," Dotoi said. "I am feeling pretty good and I couldn't wait to get out on the field today."

It is enthusiasm like this which Ryan enjoys seeing from his players.

"We have a few young guys in the team and they rev the older boys up a bit," he said.

"They bring a lot to the side and you can see that the way we are playing at the moment."

Cobar coach Brian Prendergast was happy with his side's performance but said the time for excuses was over.

"We did have a late start to the season but we have to start winning games," he said.

"We showed what we could do in the last 15 minutes when we had the ball.

"It is just a matter of playing like that early in the match rather than when we are down by almost 40 points with 15 to go.

"But CYMS are a good side and full credit to them, they played some really good football."
