Melissa Jeffery is hoping this weekend's New South Wales Women's Cricket Championships at Maitland will be a springboard to getting back into the schools' State team.

Jeffery, 16, will play in the Western under-19 team with Narromine's Skye Lovett.
Dubbo schoolgirl Katie Shanks has been named in the Western opens team.
The 19s will play South Coast, North Coast, Central Coast, Hunter and Sydney on the long weekend while the opens will clash with Sydney Gold, Hunter and Riverina.
The games comprise 35-over innings with a bonus point system.
For Jeffery though, the weekend is about finding the form that had her selected in the State schools' team two years ago.
Jeffery was selected in last year's squad but didn't make the final 11.
"I'd been in the team for the past couple of years then I missed out last year," she said. "I want to get back into the State team. I need to improve my bowling though.
"I think there'll be a lot of pressure to perform this weekend particularly because it's early in the season and not everyone is playing at the moment.
"But you've got to learn to deal with that pressure and it will also be a heap of fun."
Jeffery said she was hitting the ball cleanly in the nets and she couldn't wait to get back on the pitch this weekend.
It is likely that she'll play both third grade and under-16s for Macquarie in this season's Dubbo district competition.
She's also hopeful that Dubbo College Senior Campus will have a girls' cricket team and that she will again play for Western Area.
"I'm a batsman and I can't wait for this weekend," she said.
"I'd say they'll rotate the batting order a bit so I'm not sure how many opportunities I'll get.
"My top score would be about the 60s or 70s for my school team.
"I started playing about five years ago. I was just watching the cricket on the television and asked my dad if I could get into it, so I joined the Macquarie girls team."
The State championships have incorporated a two-tier system with opens and under-19s.
There will be eight open teams and six under-19s with the NSW Country teams to be picked after the weekend.
All Western players will be looking to perform, with Wellington hosting the women's city versus country clash in opens and under-21s at Pioneer and Montefiores Parks on October 25 and 26.
