Ms Perrin has been accepted into the faculty of medicine at Newcastle University. She gained admission under a Federal Government program which reserves places for indigenous students.
The university offers eight places to indigenous students over and above the number already allocated to non-indigenous students.
Ms Perrin’s admission sparked the interest of A Current Affair after a letter from David Lloyd was published in the Daily Liberal.
Mr Lloyd criticised Ms Perrin’s admission because her university assessment index was less than 90.
Newcastle University does not solely use the UAI for determining entry into the faculty of medicine.
Mr Lloyd was interviewed by A Current Affair in Dubbo yesterday.
A spokeswoman for the program told the Daily Liberal that it was not interested in highlighting Ms Perrin’s success.
“We are taking Mr Lloyd’s side in this story. She (Amy-lee) will fail her first year at university and that’s a waste of money.”
