Sean Buxton has 24 years of experience in open-cut and underground mining in several states of Australia and Ireland.
Most recently he held the position of general manager of the successful White Dam Gold Mine for Polymetals Mining in South Australia, taking it from construction through to the completion of mining.
Construction of the TGP, 50 kilometres south-west of Dubbo, will get underway when it receives a mining lease from the Resources and Energy Division of the NSW Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services.
The project received development approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure in August.
Mr Buxton's appointment follows that of Henry Kaye as construction manager for the TGP and Colleen Measday as environmental superintendent.
Alkane Resources has also appointed chartered accountant Michael Ball as chief financial officer as its prepares to launch the TGP and the Dubbo Zirconia Project (DZP).
An environmental impact statement is scheduled to be lodged next year for the $1 billion DZP, based on one of the world's largest in-ground resources of the metals zirconium, hafnium, niobium, tantalum, yttrium and rare earth elements at Toongi, 20 kilometres south of Dubbo.
Mr Ball, who will be based in Perth, has spent the past eight years in management roles in the mining and mining services sector across finance, business planning and systems, working most recently with Consolidated Minerals Group.
