After a week-long hunt NSW Lotteries announced the $4.92 million prize could be delivered to the owner of the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot ticket sold at Dubbo and drawn out on April 18.
The local woman, who wished to remain anonymous, "dissolved into tears" when she learnt of the life-changing bounty, NSW Lotteries said.
Confirming her win with a NSW Lotteries official on Friday afternoon, the woman revealed she'd been joking with her family about being the winner.
"Oh my God, I just can't believe it," she said.
"I just can't believe it.
"We just went for a ride and I popped into the newsagency to grab the paper for my dad and I thought I'd better check my ticket.
"Earlier this week, I told my children that I had bought a ticket from that newsagency and I joked saying 'wouldn't you die if it was actually you'.
"Thank you, thank you so much."
NSW Lotteries reports the generous mum didn't need long to think about how she'd use her prize, saying her family and local community would benefit.
"Honestly I don't need that much money, I would have been happy with a couple of thousand dollars," she said with a laugh.
"I'd already won the lottery with a beautiful family.
"But I'm going to help my kids and set them up for life.
"And I'm going to donate a lot.
"It's been a tough few years and I just don't believe it.
"I will be able to do so much good with this.
"There's so many people I can help.
"I went to a fortune teller once and she told me that I'd never need to worry about money.
"Maybe this is what she meant.
"I still work but my bloody oath, struth, I'll be retiring."
The ticket was bought from Talbragar Street Newsagency, and owner Peter Snare was excited to hear his customer had checked the ticket and realised her good fortune.
"There's been so much excitement in store over this win," he said.
"We're over-the-moon for our customer
"It's great to see this prize has gone to a local and now they can go on to enjoy their life with their family and friends."
