A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Thursday afternoon and a number of lightning strikes were recorded across the region.
The Forbes Central Rural Fire Brigade took to social media to inform the community about calls they had received.
“Crews from Central have been out again today [Thursday] at 9.43am with a tree fire at Jemalong and again at 5pm with a crew going to the Goobang National Park to assist with a bushfire,” the post read.
“With lots of lighting storms about please be vigilant and call triple-0 if you see an unattended fire.
“Thanks to the crews for the hard work and job well done.”
Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott said more thunderstorms were predicted for the region during the coming week, however they would bring very little rain.
Due to the dry, hot and drought conditions across Western NSW, she said dust storms were very likely.
“There’s always a good chance, especially when there’s no plants to hold the dirt down,” Ms Westcott said.
“The dust storm events will probably keep happening until the vegetation grows.”
