Above-average daytime temperatures were recorded on 21 days of June 2018 and the first two days of this month.
But early morning temperatures have defied the trend. Below-average minimum temperatures were recorded on 17 days of June including a chilly minus 1.4 degrees Celsius on June 24.
The average maximum temperature in Dubbo in the month of June is 16.3 degrees and July 15.5. Comparative minimum temperatures are 4.4 degrees and 3 degrees.
Residents basked in 20.9 degrees on June 7, the warmest day of last month. This Thursday they can expect to discard their coats as the temperature climbs to 22 degrees.
The bureau’s seven-day forecast for the city as of Tuesday predicted this week’s temperature peak would be preceded by 20 degrees on Wednesday and followed by 20 degrees on Friday.
Saturday’s top temperature is expected to be a cooler but still above-average 17 degrees. On Sunday the daytime temperature will drop to 14 degrees, followed by 13 degrees on Monday. Central West communities such as Bathurst and Orange are bracing for snowfalls.
The city received 18.6 millimetres (mm) of rain in June instead of the average 51.9mm. Rain had not fallen this month as 9am Tuesday. Dubbo received 28.6mm in January, 2.4mm in February, 4mm in March, 6.8mm in April and 13mm in May. The city received a total of 73.4mm in the first six months of 2018. Average annual rainfall in Dubbo is 583.4mm.
