I'm pleased to share that CSU Dubbo is hosting the Indigenous Access Program (IAP) for the first time this year from June 25-29. This program is a five day entry program which helps assess skills and suitability of potential students.
Courses are available to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person wanting to gain entry into CSU. School leavers must be completing year 12 in 2018. You can find out more at www.csu.edu.au
We launched the Community-University Partnership (CUP) program earlier this year. The CUP Program aims to advance CSU’s mission by cultivating strong and collaborative partnerships with our local communities.
Each year we offer grants to the community in five areas:
Indigenous Engagement
Opened May 14 and closes on June 15, 2018.
Education Development
Opens on June 18 and closes on July 13, 2018.
Arts and Culture
Opens on July 30 and closes on August 24, 2018.
Sports Development Winter
Opens on August 20 and closes on September 28, 2018.
Head of Campus
Opened on April 11 and closes on October 26, 2018.
I encourage you to share this with groups who may be interested in applying for a grant, it is a simple and easy process.
More information about the CUP Grants program and the application process can be found at https://about.csu.edu.au/community/grants
Our first Exploration Series Public Lecture was held on Thursday, May 24. The lecture featured presentations from four well-known community members who shared their experiences with the insidious disease, breast cancer.
More than 40 attendees were lucky enough to hear from Donna Falconer, author of My Time, founder of the Pink Angels and Groovy Booby Bus, Graeme Board OAM and the Dubbo-based McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses, Vanessa Hyland and Margie Collins.
We welcomed volunteers from the Dubbo Wig Library, Pink Angels Inc, Look Good Feel Better and the Groovy Booby Bus who all set up display stalls.
CSU Dubbo is now accepting applications from artists, curators and organisations wishing to exhibit as part of its 2017/2018 art program. Our exhibition space is in the heart of campus, Building 901.
Please spread the word with your networks and those who may be interested in exhibiting their works can contact our Campus Development Manager, Bart Sykes, on 6885 7370.
Until my next update,
Ms Cathy Maginnis
Head of Campus, Dubbo
