Officers had been searching for the 33-year-old for a number of days, and eventually tracked him to a Craigie Lea Road address on Tuesday morning.
Upon arrival they were told he had left by foot through some paddocks.
Police Dog Skip was deployed, and after getting a human scent tracked down the alleged offender hiding in a tree.
The man jumped from the tree, and after being told to stop by the handler, kept running.
PD Skip then took the man to the ground by the right arm and he was arrested and transported to Dubbo Police Station.
Paramedics were called to the station to attend to the man, who was charged with resisting police, assaulting police, escaping custody and driving without a licence.
He was then taken to Dubbo Hospital where it was expected he would require a procedure to repair the wound to his right arm.
Police will allege in court that last Thursday, November 15, police observed the man, a disqualified driver, driving a white dual-cab on Minore Street.
He was spoken to at the time, but a short while later was again observed behind the wheel.
When a female officer went to place the man under arrest, police allege he spun around and hit the officer in the arm to break her grip, before striking her on the left side of her head.
He then fled on foot.
Late on Tuesday, the man appeared before Magistrate Paul Hayes in Dubbo Local Court.
His bail application was successful and the matters were adjourned to Narromine Local Court on April 3.
