On Thursday the staff celebrated Ms Henry’s milestone with a cake before her last day on Thursday.
Boss Michael Brennan said Ms Henry had been a diligent employee. Despite their disagreements in the past she had always been easy to work with and was never tardy, he said.
Ms Henry said it was very touching to see Mr Brennan get emotional as he said goodbye. She had made lifelong friends during her time at Mitre 10, she said.
Her last day on Friday would be a hard day, the employee said.
Ms Henry started working at Mitre 10 two weeks after moving to Dubbo. Before that she had been working for Telstra in Sydney.
She’s now starting work at Westhaven. It was time for a change while she still had the chance, Ms Henry said.
“It’s about time I move on and did something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said.
Ms Henry said she was grateful to the Brennans for having her for the past 20 years.
