Jen Crowley wrote Grandpa’s Hat, which aims to help parents guide their children through grief; Donna Falconer penned My Time: Through Breast Cancer and Beyond, telling her story of being diagnosed with breast cancer at 44-years-old; and Toni Grant has written crime fiction novel Serpent Song, with another two novels coming soon.
The visit, to be held on March 26 at 3.30pm, will give the community a chance to meet the authors and discuss their books and the motivations behind them.
Bourke Shire mayor Barry Hollman said the council was pleased to be able to host the authors. The visit would also provide an opportunity to showcase the library, he said.
The proceeds from all three books have gone to charity. Profits from Ms Crowley’s novel will go to the National Association for Loss and Grief, for Ms Falconer it’s the McGrath Foundation and Breast Cancer Network Australia, while Ms Grant has also chosen to support research into breast cancer.
Council’s general manager Ross Earl said the visit presented a unique opportunity for local residents and he encouraged everyone to go along and have a chat to the accomplished authors.
Light refreshments will be available at the library.
The authors will also be guest speakers at the Bourke Rotary Club meeting that evening.
